Situated between Estepona to the east and Casares to the west, this lively area mainly revolves around the marina which lies 5 minutes from the centre and consists of 2 halves, the fishing side and the more modern motor boat/water sports side. All kinds of boats can be hired from the marina and there are also fishing trips and dolphin spotting excursions leaving the bay at regular intervals. Estepona, the Coast's most Westerly resort, is a sizeable yet charming town. West of Marbella, Estepona has largely avoided overbuilding and has lovely rural and unspoilt stretches of beach, with two being awarded the EC Blue Flags. The lovely port of Puerto Banus is just a 15 minute drive away and Marbella a further 5 mins. Estepona is in a fertile valley crossed by small streams and a mountainous area dominated by the Sierra Bermeja, which reaches an elevation of 1,449 metres at the peak of Los Reales. Here you will find a wide selection traditional bars, restaurants and shops lining the town's quaint cobbled streets and picturesque squares, as well as the smart seafront promenade featuring a children's play area. There is also a bustling sports marina with bars, cafés and restaurants, and a regular street market.
