The highest mountain in Austria , Grossglockner (3,798 m), is located in this mountain range, and to avid hikers on their way up it guarantees a rush of adrenaline. In this famous winemaking region you can choose from three different hiking trails showcasing the vineyards and taste the wines they produce.

Ski enthusiasts appreciate year-round skiing on the Hintertux glacier. On the 230 kilometres of local ski slopes, snow never melts. The longest slope, Gletscherrunde, is 12 kilometres long, and the elevation difference is a whole 1,750 metres. Other Austrian glaciers such as Stubai, Pitztal, Kaunertal, Rettenbach or Tiefenbach, the site of the World Ski Cup, are also very popular.
