Dolomiti Superski, the largest ski complex in Trentino province, unifies 12 ski resorts. It features 1,200 kilometres of ski slopes and 1,180 cross-country ski trails. Val di Fassa e Carezza, Kronplatz and Cortina d’Ampezzo are some of the better-known ski resorts. They all offer slopes with a range of difficulty – for beginners, intermediate skiers and for the advanced, who can take advantage of black slopes. Ambitious skiers may also try skiing on Marmolada Glacier or a cross-country ski trip around the Sella mountain range. The Dolomite "ski-safari" called Sella Ronda makes it possible to ski continuously for a whole 40 kilometres through Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Araba – Marmolada and Val di Fassa.

Valle D’Aosta, a ski region in the highest Italian mountains, is the top ski destination in the country. The alpine resorts of Monterosa Ski and Cervinia are situated at an elevation of almost 3,500 metres. The total added length of the ski slopes in the Aosta valley is 870 kilometres, including slopes suitable for free ride, carving and snowboarding.

Val di Sole is a sunny valley located on the border of Lombardy and Trentino. Here you will find the ski resorts of Madonna di Campiglio, Pinzolo, Pejo, Marilleva, Ponte di Legno and Passo Tonale. These six resorts together feature 340 kilometres of groomed cross-country ski trails at a range of difficulty. In Marilleva, snowboarders and free riders enjoy a 250-metre-long U ramp.

Located near the Swiss border, the ski region of Alta-Valtellina includes Livigno, the quieter resort of Santa Catarina, and the challenging Bormio, which ought to satisfy demanding skiers. The World Championship in downhill skiing has twice been held in Bormio.
